LOUISVILLE, Ky. – When patients enter the new UofL Health Care Outpatient Center they will see a three-story atrium, a water sculpture, and may feel like they have entered an upscale lobby instead of a medical office building.

What they find once they see their doctor, dentist or nurse practitioner is that the building, dedicated today, is a center that combines high-technology services and compassionate health care.

“While we are proud of this facility and the investment that it represents in our community, it is even more gratifying to use this occasion to showcase the tremendous expertise of the physicians, dentists and nurses who are working in this building to improve the quality of life for patients from across the region,” said UofL President James Ramsey.

The 169,000 square foot facility includes the latest diagnostic imaging equipment, an outpatient surgical center, an outpatient rehabilitation center, a dialysis center, pharmacy and laboratory – allowing patients to get needed tests, prescriptions and other services at one location.

“We are providing the full range of adult primary care and the full spectrum of medical specialties in one location,” said Larry Cook, UofL’s executive vice president for health affairs.

“Patients who need a CT scan, an MRI, lab tests and other services don’t have to look any further – it is truly convenient,” said Cook.

The building, developed by Landmark Healthcare Facilities, LLC, was constructed at a cost of $45 million.  Financing came from Landmark, Republic Bank and Key Bank.

UofL Health Care invested an additional $18 million in customized space and specialized equipment for the outpatient surgical center, diagnostic imaging center, outpatient rehabilitation center, pharmacy, laboratory facilities and infusion services.
